CARD PLAYERS, acrylic on canvas, 30×36″, 2022. As a response to Cezanne’s paintings of similar titles, Malu invested the emphasis in the environment, the cave-like tavern, not so much on the characters, it is not the monumental players, but the ritual, the connection and focus of the inhabitants of this almost sacred place, that which is highlighted in this unique and moody artwork.
